Don’t Kill The Vibe — Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 12, 2026
Who we are: Don’t Kill The Vibe LLC (“DKTV”, “we”), 2025 Cedars Hill Rd, Lansdale, PA 19446-5897, USA. Questions: privacy@dontktv.com.
Don’t Kill The Vibe is a party game: one phone plays songs to the room, everyone rates each pick, and at the end of the night the masks come off. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By using the app you agree to this policy and to the YouTube Terms of Service.
The short version
- You can join a party without giving us your name, email or phone number: the app creates an anonymous account on your phone. Hosting a party needs a signed-in account, because play time and tokens belong to an account.
- We keep a record of each night you play (the songs, the scores, who was there) so you can find it again in My Nights.
- How each person rated a song is never stored. We keep only the room’s average.
- We don’t sell your information, show ads, or use advertising trackers.
- You can download your data or delete your account from Profile → Account & security, at any time.
What we collect
Your account
- An account ID, created when you first open the app, so your nights are kept even if you never sign in.
- If you choose to sign in: your email address, your mobile number, or your Apple or Google account (from Apple or Google we receive an ID, your email address and, if you share it, your name). If you sign in with Apple, we also keep a token from Apple, used only to disconnect DKTV from your Apple ID when you delete your account.
- Your profile: the name you choose, your avatar, and a profile photo if you add one.
- Your date of birth, asked once before your first party, to keep the game right for your age. Players under 13 can’t use the app.
- Your settings, such as whether explicit songs are allowed when you host.
When you play
- The party’s name, its room code and how long it ran.
- For each player: the real name they entered, their alias, their avatar, their score and where they placed. Real names are hidden from the room until the end of the night, when they are revealed to everyone who was there.
- For each round: the song (its YouTube video ID, title, channel and thumbnail), who picked it, the picker’s prediction, the room’s average rating and how ratings were spread across the five bands. We do not store any individual player’s rating.
- Chat messages pass between the phones in the room and are not stored by us, unless someone reports one (see below).
Searching for songs
- The words you search for are sent to our server and to YouTube to find songs. We keep search results for up to 7 days so the same search doesn’t have to be repeated, and delete them within 30 days. To limit searches fairly, we keep a count of searches per account for one day.
Video reactions
- If you choose to record a reaction during a party, we store the video clip (up to 30 seconds, with sound, which can include the music playing in the room) so the other players in that party can watch it. During the party clips play silently; their sound plays only after the party ends. Players under 18 can't record reactions.
- You can also share your own clip from your phone (for example to Messages or social media). Once you share it, it's under the rules of the app or service you shared it to; we can't delete copies there.
Purchases and play time
- Tokens and the Unlimited subscription are bought through the App Store or Google Play; Apple or Google takes the payment, and we never see your card details. We receive a record of each purchase: what was bought, the price and currency charged, the store's transaction ID, the country of the store, and whether it was a test purchase. RevenueCat checks each purchase with Apple or Google and sends us that record.
- We keep a ledger of your tokens (bought, spent, refunded) and of the play time and extras you buy, so your balance is right and any purchase can be explained.
Reports and safety
- If you report a player, a message or a video reaction, we keep the report: who reported, who was reported, the reason and the reported message. We use reports to keep the game safe and act on them promptly. We keep reports for up to 1 year after we close them.
- Blocking someone is stored only on your phone.
On your phone
- The app stores a random player ID, your current party (so you can rejoin if the app closes), your recent nights, your block list and your sign-in session in the phone’s app storage. This is not used to track you across other apps or websites.
- The camera is used only when you choose to scan a party’s QR code, take a profile photo or record a reaction. The microphone is used only while you record a reaction, for its sound. Photos and clips you don’t choose to send never leave your phone.
What we don’t collect: your location, your contacts, advertising identifiers, or your activity in other apps.
How we use it
- To run the party: connect the phones in a party (in the room or remote), play songs, score rounds and reveal names at the end.
- To keep your history: My Nights, the setlist of each night and your Vibe Card.
- To sign you in and keep your account secure, including sending sign-in codes by email or text.
- To sell and deliver tokens, play time and the subscription, and to handle refunds.
- To keep the game safe: filtering offensive words, handling reports and enforcing our rules.
- To find songs, using YouTube.
- To meet legal obligations.
We don’t use your information for advertising, and we don’t sell or “share” it as those terms are defined under California law.
Who can see what
- Players in your party see your alias and avatar during the night, then your real name, photo and score when the masks come off. After the night, everyone who was there can see its setlist and results in their own history.
- Your video reactions can be seen only by players who were in that party, and by us if someone reports one.
- Your profile photo is stored at an address that is not listed anywhere, but anyone who has that address can view it.
- Nobody can see your email, phone number or date of birth except you and us.

YouTube
DKTV uses YouTube API Services to search for songs and the YouTube embedded player to play them. By using DKTV you agree to the YouTube Terms of Service. Google’s use of information is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.
- The YouTube player runs inside the app on the host’s phone, and on the phone of anyone playing remotely. YouTube (Google) may store or read cookies and similar information on those phones when videos play, under Google’s policy.
- Song details we keep from YouTube (titles, channel names, thumbnails) are refreshed or deleted within 30 days, as YouTube requires.
- [Applies only if DKTV later lets you save playlists to your own YouTube account:] you’ll be asked for permission first, and you can withdraw it at any time at Google’s security settings as well as by deleting your DKTV account.
Children
DKTV is not for children under 13. We ask for a date of birth before the first party and don’t let anyone under 13 play. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, contact us and we will delete it. Players aged 13 to 17 can’t turn on explicit songs when they host.
How long we keep it
- Your account and profile: until you delete your account.
- Nights you played: while you have an account. When you delete it, your name is removed from nights that other players still keep, and the nights stay in their history.
- Search results: up to 30 days. Search counts: one day.
- Sign-in codes: they expire after 10 minutes.
- Video reactions: deleted automatically after 7 days, or sooner if you delete yours. A reported clip is kept until we've reviewed the report.
- Reports: up to 1 year after we close them.
- Purchase records and the token ledger: for as long as the law requires us to keep financial records (generally 7 years), even after you delete your account.
- Guest accounts (never signed in): kept until you delete them. If we start deleting long-unused guest accounts, we'll say how long here first.
Your choices and rights
In the app, under Profile → Account & security, you can:
- Download your data (a copy of your profile and nights).
- Delete your account. This takes effect immediately and removes your profile, photo and history. Any tokens left in the account are lost, and you should cancel an Unlimited subscription in your App Store or Google Play settings.
- Remove a single night from your history.
- Sign out on this phone or on every device.
You can also change your name, photo and avatar, unblock players, and change your settings at any time. Depending on where you live (for example California, Colorado, Virginia, or the UK and EU), you may have further rights, such as to correct your information or to object to how it’s used. Contact us to use them; we won’t treat you differently for doing so.
Security
Information is sent over encrypted connections. Each player can read only their own account and the nights they were part of; every write goes through checks on our servers. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you, we’ll tell you as the law requires.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the effective date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
